Frequently Asked Questions
Does Wisp delete my cloud files?
No. Wisp never deletes anything from the cloud. For fully synced files it removes only the local copy and leaves an online-only placeholder that re-downloads when you open it. Before touching a file it re-checks that the file is completely synced, and skips it if it isn't sure.
How do I free up space?
Open Wisp, choose the folders to scan, and press Scan. Review the list (size, last-used date and sync status for every file), choose what to free, then press Apply.
Which clouds are supported?
Wisp frees space automatically for OneDrive on Windows and iCloud Drive on Mac. Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive on Mac are detected and listed with instructions for freeing them in their own apps, because those providers don't let outside apps do it.
What happens to files that aren't in the cloud?
Wisp never frees local-only files automatically, because there is no cloud copy to fall back on. You can choose to move them to an archive folder or the Trash / Recycle Bin, one file at a time, after confirming each one. Nothing is permanently deleted.
How do I undo something?
Open History & Undo. Every run is recorded there and most actions can be reversed. Placeholders can also be re-downloaded at any time from your cloud app. Removed empty folders can't be undone since they contained nothing.
A file I freed won't download. Why?
Placeholders are controlled by your cloud provider and operating system. Check your internet connection, that you're signed in to your cloud account, and that the account is in good standing with enough storage. Then try opening the file again.
How does my license key work?
After purchase, your license key is emailed to you. Enter it in Wisp to activate on one computer. The license never expires. Wisp re-checks it about every 12 hours while it is open and online.
How do I move my license to a new computer?

I didn't receive my license key email.

Windows shows a security warning when I install.
Wisp for Windows may show a SmartScreen warning, because it is a new app. See our Windows security notice for the steps to continue.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund — see our Refund Policy. When a refund is issued, the license for that purchase is revoked.
